Afghanistan launches anti-polio campaign in three eastern provinces

The Polio Free Afghanistan Foundation announced that a polio vaccination drive will begin tomorrow in the eastern provinces of Kunar, Nuristan, and Laghman.
According to a statement posted on the Foundation’s X page, the campaign will cover various districts within the three provinces, aiming to reach children in selected areas.
During the drive, children will receive both oral polio vaccine (OPV) and injectable fractional inactivated polio vaccine (fIPV) to boost immunity and help prevent the spread of the crippling virus.
Health officials emphasized that such targeted vaccination campaigns are critical to maintaining Afghanistan’s progress toward polio eradication and protecting children from the potentially debilitating disease. (ILKHA)
