Turkish health authority denies mpox case claims in Istanbul

The Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Health has dismissed recent claims circulating on social media about a case of mpox virus (formerly known as monkeypox) in the Beyoğlu district.
In an official statement, the Directorate clarified that these reports are false and do not reflect the truth.
Following the necessary medical examinations and test results, health officials confirmed that the individual in question does not have the mpox virus.
The Directorate emphasized Turkey's strong health infrastructure, which is fully equipped to monitor and control infectious diseases.
"We kindly urge the public not to rely on news of uncertain origin circulating on social media," the statement added, reassuring citizens that the necessary precautions and capabilities are in place to address any potential health threats. (ILKHA)
