4.1 magnitude earthquake strikes eastern Türkiye, causing public unease
A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Tuşba district of Van province on Sunday, intensifying public concern amid a series of tremors in the region.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) confirmed the quake, which occurred at a depth of 4.42 kilometers beneath the earth's surface. It follows two smaller tremors earlier in the area — one measuring 3.2 and the other 2.4 in magnitude, both at an approximate depth of 12 kilometers.
The repeated seismic activity has led to a growing sense of unease among local residents, with many expressing concern over the possibility of stronger aftershocks.
No casualties or major damage have been reported so far. However, authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to remain cautious and follow official guidelines in case of further seismic activity.
Van, located in eastern Türkiye, lies in a seismically active zone and has experienced several significant earthquakes in the past.
AFAD continues to assess the region and has assured the public that all necessary response teams are on alert. (ILKHA)
