Ankara to host landmark “Islamic Countries and Muslim Communities Summit” on 15-18 May

The Yeni Bir Dünya Vakfı (A New World Foundation) is set to host a historic gathering titled the “Islamic Countries and Muslim Communities Summit” in Ankara from 15 to 18 May 2025, bringing together representatives from across the Islamic world under the banner of unity, solidarity, and freedom.
Announced under the slogans “The Islamic World Meets in Ankara” and “Islamic Unity and Freedom for Muslim Lands,” the summit aims to strengthen bonds among Muslim nations and communities, while offering a platform to address the pressing challenges facing the Ummah.
The four-day event will take place at Ankara Başkent Millet Bahçesi (Capital Nation Garden) and is open to both the Turkish public and Muslim communities residing in Türkiye. The summit will feature country exhibitions, stage performances, public talks, cultural showcases, and concerts, creating an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation.
Uğur Özcan, Chairman of the Board of the New World Foundation, emphasized the urgent need for Islamic unity in a statement during his visit to the İLKHA Ankara office. “God willing, we are organising this summit to call for the urgent establishment of Islamic unity, particularly in the face of the suffering in Palestine, East Turkistan, Myanmar, and other oppressed geographies,” Özcan said.
He revealed that the event will include five major components, notably the “A New World Symposium,” where civil society leaders, scholars, and diplomats will gather for high-level discussions. The symposium will host five key panels focusing on:
Palestine and occupied lands
East Turkistan and other oppressed regions
Islam in non-Muslim countries
Islamic unity and a new global vision
The role of Muslim civil society in shaping the future
“We are living in a time when Islamic unity is no longer arbitrary. It is a collective obligation,” Özcan remarked.
Beyond Turkey, Özcan expressed the ambition to rotate the summit across various Muslim-majority countries in future years. “This year, we will host our brothers and sisters in Türkiye, but our aim is for the summit to be held in Baghdad, Cairo, Rabat, Kuala Lumpur, Islamabad, and more,” he said. “We must meet, understand one another, and move as one Ummah.”
Özcan urged NGOs, scholars, and bureaucrats to register for the symposium via the foundation’s official website and called on the public to attend the summit. “We expect everyone who believes in the cause of Islamic unity to join us at the Capital Nation Garden on 15 May. Let us strive together for a New World based on justice, brotherhood, and liberation.”
