Erdoğan announces 250,000 housing units delivered to earthquake victims
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on Thursday that the number of housing units delivered to citizens affected by last year's devastating earthquake has reached 250,000, marking a major milestone in the government’s reconstruction efforts.
In a statement shared via his social media account, Erdoğan underscored the scale and pace of the recovery projects, which continue across the earthquake-hit regions.
As part of the broader rebuilding initiative, Erdoğan also highlighted the progress made in Kahramanmaraş, one of the hardest-hit provinces. He noted that significant developments had taken place in a newly established neighborhood supported by Azerbaijan.
“A total of 49,056 residential and work units have been built in the Azerbaijani quarter in Kahramanmaraş with support from Azerbaijan,” Erdoğan stated.
The Azerbaijani quarter, constructed in cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan, stands as a symbol of international solidarity and shared resilience. Erdoğan thanked Azerbaijan for its support and emphasized that both infrastructure and housing in the area have been designed to be modern, earthquake-resistant, and well-equipped to meet the long-term needs of the residents.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that all citizens displaced by the disaster are provided with safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Reconstruction projects remain underway in multiple provinces, with ongoing efforts to restore livelihoods and rebuild communities from the ground up. (ILKHA)
