Göktaş: Gaza’s sacrifice has brought hundreds of thousands to Islam
Honorary President of the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation, Mehmet Göktaş, delivered a passionate and wide-ranging address in Mardin, drawing parallels between the resistance currently ongoing in Gaza and the sacrifices of the early Companions of the Prophet.
Göktaş also emphasized the rapid global spread of Islam, particularly in Europe, asserting that Muslims should never lose hope.
"Stars That Illuminate Our Path": Honoring Mus'ab ibn Umayr
Göktaş spoke at a program dedicated to the life of the Companion Mus'ab ibn Umayr, organized by the Prophet’s Lovers Association as part of their “Companions Month of November” events, held at the Artuklu University Conference Hall.
The event, titled “Stars That Illuminate Our Path,” began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and featured religious hymns performed by singers from Özlem Ajans, along with a video presentation on Mus'ab ibn Umayr's life.
Gaza Resistance: A Modern Echo of Early Islam
In his keynote speech, Göktaş focused heavily on the situation in Gaza, framing the sacrifices there as a profound manifestation of faith that mirrors the early days of Islam. He contrasted the scenes in Gaza with the lives of the female Companions in Mecca.
“Which female Companion in Mecca ever placed the torn pieces of her children’s bodies into a bag and said, ‘Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un’ [Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return]? Is there such a scene? Today in Gaza, the religion of Allah is being lived in such a manner, lived so beautifully,” Göktaş stated.
He claimed that the steadfast faith demonstrated by mothers and children in Gaza has spurred a massive wave of conversions globally.
“Yes, we have more than 70,000 martyrs in Gaza. But believe that all sources, all reports state that at least ten times that—600,000 or 700,000 people—have embraced Islam... because of Gaza, because of HAMAS, because of the al-Qassam Brigades; because of the mothers there, the children, and the Islam they represent.”
Global Islam "Experiencing Good Days"
Göktaş highlighted what he described as a significant "softening" toward Islam in Europe, noting the unprecedented scale of pro-Palestine demonstrations in major Western capitals.
“In which period of history have hundreds of thousands gathered in Paris, London, Berlin, Barcelona chanting ‘Free Palestine,’ ‘Down with Zionism’? Has such a thing ever happened?” he questioned.
He shared observations of solidarity with Muslims in Europe: “While Muslims pray in the streets, Christian youth sometimes join them in prayer. Those who do not join stand around them hand-in-hand to prevent any attack—this happens in Berlin, Paris, London... This is not a simple matter.”
Göktaş argued that despite the apparent defeat under bombs, the war's difficulty stems from a greater divine purpose: “Allah knows that we want freedom in Gaza, but He wants global Zionism to collapse; He wants American imperialism to collapse.” He celebrated the impact of the resistance, stating that “the biggest Jewish and Zionist city in the world—New York—was won by Gaza.”
He also praised the Al Qassam Brigades, citing their strict acceptance criteria: members must be over 17, be a Hafiz (memorizer of the Qur’an), never have missed a prayer, and be highly skilled in computers and artificial intelligence.
Mus'ab ibn Umayr: The Man Who Made Medina Muslim
Göktaş concluded his address by returning to the life of the Companion Mus'ab ibn Umayr, emphasizing that Mus'ab's lasting honor was not just his martyrdom at Uhud, but his successful mission as a messenger of the Prophet.
“Mus'ab was not honored only for being martyred at Uhud; he was honored for making Medina Muslim,” Göktaş said. “He toured the tribes of Aws and Khazraj day and night, preaching until they embraced Islam. Then he delivered them to the Messenger of Allah.”
The event concluded with a closing prayer. (ILKHA)
