HÜDA PAR launches Kurdish issue workshop in Diyarbakır

The ‘Humanitarian Solution to the Kurdish Issue’ Workshop, organized by HÜDA PAR, has commenced in Diyarbakır, bringing together academics, scholars, and politicians to explore solutions to the Kurdish issue through a humanitarian and inclusive approach.
The workshop began with a presentation by educator Fatih Taş, followed by a recitation of the Holy Quran. Opening speeches then took place, with HÜDA PAR Vice President and Head of Human Rights and Legal Affairs, İshak Sağlam, addressing the attendees.
In his speech, Sağlam underscored the deep historical roots of the Kurdish issue, tracing it back 100-150 years. He highlighted the severe consequences of the ongoing problem, including mass killings, displacement, economic hardship, and loss of hope among the people.
Different Perspectives on the Kurdish Issue
Sağlam outlined the various perspectives on the Kurdish issue, stating: "For some, it stems from economic underdevelopment; for others, it is tied to terrorism and violence. Some see it as a tool exploited by imperialist powers to destabilize the country, while others regard it as a matter of justice and a failure to uphold the principle of brotherhood."
Despite extensive discussions over the years, he emphasized that the issue remains unresolved, making continued dialogue and consultation essential.
"If the Kurdish issue is still being discussed, it means there is a problem that needs to be solved," he stated.
Commitment to Finding Solutions
Sağlam reaffirmed HÜDA PAR’s commitment to addressing the Kurdish issue through an inclusive approach, stressing the importance of considering all viewpoints to reach a common and sustainable solution. He referenced previous initiatives, including a similar event held in 2015, which brought together various associations and foundations.
He also noted that the workshop was initially scheduled for autumn 2023 but was postponed due to the outbreak of Operation Aqsa Flood and its subsequent impact on national priorities.
Workshop Structure and Round Table Discussions
The workshop consists of four sessions, each featuring four presentations, with a total of 16 research papers to be presented. Each session is allocated one and a half hours to ensure in-depth discussions.
In the evening, a Round Table meeting will be held in two separate rooms, where discussions will be recorded. These discussions will later be compiled into a published book, summarizing the event’s findings and proposed solutions.
Sağlam emphasized the significance of all contributions, stating that the insights and solution proposals shared during the Round Table discussions are just as valuable as the formal presentations.
The workshop will conclude on Sunday at 15:30, with the reading of a final declaration summarizing the key discussions and proposed solutions.
This event marks a significant step toward resolving the Kurdish issue, bringing together diverse perspectives in pursuit of a humanitarian and lasting solution. (ILKHA)
