Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the independence and integrity of the Turkish judiciary during the Appointment Ceremony of Judges and Public Prosecutors in Ankara.
He asserted that the judiciary makes decisions solely on behalf of the Turkish nation and cannot be intimidated.
"The Turkish judiciary makes decisions only on behalf of the Turkish nation. No one can intimidate those who decide on behalf of the Turkish nation. The Turkish judiciary shattered the walls of fear on the night of July 15,” Erdoğan said.
Erdoğan noted that while judicial decisions can be criticized within the bounds of courtesy and laws, it is crucial to remain respectful and lawful. He acknowledged past criticisms of court decisions but emphasized adherence to the law.
He highlighted the collective responsibility to support the judiciary in carrying out its duties properly, justly, and accurately. He condemned the politicization of judicial processes and the targeting of judges and prosecutors.
This speech comes amidst ongoing debates about judicial independence in Türkiye. Erdoğan's emphasis on the judiciary's role and his condemnation of intimidation tactics suggest an effort to reinforce public trust in the legal system. (ILKHA)
