The Prophet’s Lovers Foundation organized a series of events themed 'Stars Enlightening Our Path' to celebrate November as the month of Companions.

Held at the Diclekent Mosque in Kayapınar district, the event, themed “Stars Enlightening Our Path,” celebrated the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad’s Companions, focusing on their enduring faith and contributions to Islam.

The program began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Serhat Toprak, followed by spiritual hymns performed by the Özlem Agency music group. Theologian Cengiz Aydın delivered a keynote speech on the life of Said bin Zayd, shedding light on the critical role the Companions played in shaping Islamic history.

The Companions: Exemplars of Faith

Aydın emphasized the spiritual and moral significance of the Prophet’s Companions, describing them as the “stars” of Islam who carried the “dress of faith” bestowed by Allah. He cited verses and hadiths affirming Allah’s pleasure with the Companions, explaining their resilience during pivotal battles like Badr, Uhud, and Hunayn.

“They were not without flaws, yet Allah corrected their mistakes and elevated them as examples for future generations. They remained steadfast from the day they embraced Islam until their last breath,” Aydın remarked, underscoring their role as eternal guides for Muslims.

The Legacy of Said bin Zayd

Focusing on the life of Said bin Zayd, Aydın narrated stories of his early upbringing in the Hanif faith, his father's longing for the coming of the Prophet, and his unwavering loyalty to Islam. Said bin Zayd's father, Zayd ibn Amr, was among the few who rejected Meccan idolatry, praying fervently that his son would meet and support the Prophet of the End Times.

Aydın highlighted Said bin Zayd's notable contributions, including his intelligence-gathering mission with Talha bin Ubaydullah during the Battle of Badr, which led to the Prophet granting them a share of the war booty despite their absence from the battlefield.

“Said bin Zayd exemplified loyalty, courage, and sacrifice. He even refused the governorship of Damascus, choosing instead to fight in the fields of jihad,” Aydın added.

A Legacy of Devotion and Sacrifice

Aydın shared poignant anecdotes, including Said bin Zayd’s defense of the Prophet during an insult at Mount Uhud and his steadfast support for Caliph Abu Bakr, pledging to continue the duties assigned by the Prophet. His eye was injured in the Battle of Yarmouk, yet he remained dedicated to jihad and refused positions of power, embodying humility and devotion.

A Night of Reflection and Unity

The program concluded with performances of spiritual hymns and a heartfelt prayer led by Abdulhakim Avut, leaving attendees inspired by the enduring legacy of the Companions.

Diyarbakır, a city often referred to as the “City of Companions,” provided a fitting backdrop for this commemoration, reflecting the community's deep-rooted reverence for Islamic history.
