A protest was held in Adana, Türkiye, to denounce the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Organized by the Prophet's Lovers Association, the demonstration called for immediate action to stop the violence and support the Palestinian cause.
The demonstration began with a Quranic recitation by Nusreddin Hodja, followed by a press statement from Orhan Erkuş, one of the Association’s Adana Coordinators.
Starting with a verse warning against complicity in wrongdoing, Erkuş denounced what he described as a “Zionist genocide” in Gaza, accusing the global community of inaction. “Genocide continues in Gaza, the bleeding wound of the Ummah and humanity,” Erkuş stated. “The whole world remains silent as the atrocities go on, and state leaders’ inaction against this alliance of evil weighs on consciences.”
Erkuş called on leaders to respond to the crisis in Gaza, saying: “Listen to the cry of Gaza, the cry of the children, the wail of the mothers... Take concrete steps to stop the genocide.” He warned that, if left unchecked, the violence would eventually impact all. “These atrocities we watch from afar today will find us one day,” he cautioned.
Characterizing the conflict as one between “right and wrong,” Erkuş commended the Palestinian resistance, framing it as a battle between the “oppressor and the oppressed.” He argued that imperialist powers and certain state leaders bear shared responsibility for the situation, describing their support of the occupation regime as complicity.
Erkuş called for stronger alliances among Islamic nations, criticizing institutions like the United Nations and the International Court of Justice for what he termed their “lost credibility” on human rights issues. He argued for “regional alliances that can establish justice” to end the suffering in Gaza and foster unity among the global Muslim community.
He also urged Türkiye to push through pending legislation on dual citizenship that targets individuals with Israeli citizenship. “The law on dual citizenship for Zionists who are Turkish citizens must be enacted immediately,” he said, suggesting it as a measure to hold accountable those he claims have contributed to the crisis.
As the protest concluded, Erkuş called for the Islamic world to set aside differences and act in solidarity. He encouraged participants to continue boycotting products that support what he termed the “Zionist genocide” and urged a halt to all trade, including oil shipments, with Israel.
Representatives from HÜDA PAR, the Mustazafs Society, Hope Caravan Association, MEKTEB, and the Prophet’s Lovers Association, along with local citizens, joined the protest to show solidarity. (ILKHA)
