Protesters in Ankara call for global intervention to address hunger and end atrocities in Gaza

The Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform (ANFIDAP) organized a rally in Ulus to raise awareness about the ongoing genocide and hunger in Gaza.
The demonstration aimed to draw attention to the suffering of the Palestinian people, emphasizing that the world must not remain silent in the face of this humanitarian crisis.
During the event, the participants expressed their outrage over the situation in Gaza, calling for accountability for those responsible for the atrocities. A statement was made on behalf of ANFIDAP, where the platform declared: "As a reaction to those who caused the hunger and genocide in Gaza, we symbolically send one meal of Gaza. The whole world should raise its voice against this cruelty."
IHH Ankara Branch President, Hacı Bayram Şahin, read the press statement on behalf of the platform. Şahin condemned the actions of the Israeli occupation, describing them as a continuous genocide against the people of Gaza, supported by the United States and other Western nations. He accused these nations of providing weapons and political support to Israel, enabling the continued massacre and suffering of the Palestinian population.
Şahin also criticized the international community for its failure to hold Israel accountable, emphasizing the hypocrisy of countries that claim to be champions of freedom while silencing those who protest the violence. He pointed to the widespread resistance to the genocide, noting that people worldwide, regardless of nationality or religion, are speaking out against the brutality in Gaza.
“The truth has been seen by the peoples of the world with all its nakedness,” Şahin stated, adding that the international community must take action. He called on the guarantor countries and signatories of the ceasefire agreements to stand by their commitments and prevent further suffering in Gaza. Şahin expressed hope that the voices of the people in Gaza would reach those in power, urging them to take a stand on the right side of history.
Following the press statement, a message was read in Turkish, English, and Arabic, urging the international community to take action to stop the genocide in Gaza. The statement highlighted the dire situation, with babies dying and the people of Gaza struggling to survive on empty plates and bottles of water or dirty water.
The platform also sent symbolic cargoes containing the message to various countries, including the members of the UN Security Council, as well as countries involved in the ceasefire agreements. The aim was to remind these nations of their responsibilities and urge them not to be complicit in the ongoing crisis.
To further symbolize the plight of Gazans, the participants distributed dates, water, and empty plates to passersby in Ulus Square, representing the iftar of Gazan children who are enduring genocide and hunger.
This rally was another step in the ongoing efforts to raise global awareness and demand action in response to the escalating violence and humanitarian disaster in Gaza. The Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform continues to call for justice and solidarity with the Palestinian people. (ILKHA)
