Russian Foreign Minister to visit Türkiye

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to visit Ankara on February 24-25, coinciding with the recent launch of talks between the United States and Russia regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Lavrov’s visit comes at a critical time as diplomatic efforts continue to address the prolonged conflict. Türkiye, which has maintained a delicate balance between Moscow and Kyiv, has previously played a mediating role in past negotiations, including the now-suspended Black Sea Grain Initiative.
During his visit, Lavrov is expected to meet with Turkish officials to discuss a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations, regional security, and the latest developments in Ukraine. The discussions may also touch upon Syria, the South Caucasus, and energy cooperation between Ankara and Moscow.
As tensions persist in Eastern Europe, Lavrov’s trip to Ankara highlights Türkiye’s strategic role in facilitating dialogue between key global players. (ILKHA)
