Thousands gather in Batman for grand Mawlid celebration despite rain

The southeastern city of Batman, Türkiye, is alive with a joyful and spiritual ambiance as preparations for one of the region’s grandest Mawlid al-Nabi celebrations have been finalized with great success.
Organized by the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation, this year’s celebration carries the powerful theme: “Remembrance of Prophet Muhammad and Living His Sunnah”, with a special focus on his role as a leader of resistance.
Despite heavy morning rain, thousands of attendees—young and old—began flocking to the venue from the early hours, their hearts filled with love for the Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him). The event area, now fully prepared, radiates a powerful spiritual energy.
The area has been adorned with large Tawhid flags bearing the words “La ilaha illallah Muhammad Rasulullah”, as well as Palestinian flags, signifying strong solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine. Posters of iconic Islamic figures such as Qassam Brigades Spokesman Abu Obeida and Jerusalem Conqueror Saladin Ayyub were prominently displayed on nearby buildings—symbols of resistance and honor in Islamic history.
Banners welcoming attendees in Kurdish (Kurmanji and Zazaki), Turkish, Arabic, and English underline the event’s inclusive and universal message.
To ease participation, free shuttle services were arranged from 24 locations across Batman. To prevent congestion near the event site, vehicles drop attendees off approximately one kilometer away, from where they walk to the gathering area.
Security measures have been significantly heightened. Entrances are controlled through multiple police checkpoints, with separate gates designated for men and women to ensure orderly entry.
The event will be broadcast live on Rehber TV, with giant screens set up across the venue for easy viewing. The area also features a bazaar tent run by the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation, while health support is provided through a dedicated medical tent operated by the Health and Environmentalism Association. Medical staff are on standby for emergencies, and a special children’s tent has been set up to assist with any lost children.
Before the official proceedings, crowds are already immersed in a spiritual ambiance, listening to soul-stirring anthems performed by Özlem Agency artists and the Prophet’s Lovers Male and Female Hymn Groups. The melodies reverberate throughout the area, uplifting hearts and elevating the collective sense of devotion.
As anticipation builds, the Mawlid al-Nabi event in Batman stands as a powerful testament to the enduring love for the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and a unified call to embody his Sunnah in everyday life. (ILKHA)
