Turkish Coast Guard rescues 26 migrants off İzmir coast
Turkish Coast Guard teams rescued 26 irregular migrants, including two children, from a rubber boat that had been drifting off the coast of Çeşme district in İzmir after its engine failed.
According to a statement released on the Turkish Coast Guard Command’s official website, teams were dispatched to the area immediately after receiving a distress call reporting a stranded vessel.
Upon arrival, Coast Guard personnel located the rubber boat adrift in the Aegean waters and safely transferred all 26 migrants aboard the rescue vessel.
Following standard procedures, the rescued individuals were brought ashore and handed over to the İzmir Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing.
The Coast Guard Command continues its vigilant patrols along Türkiye’s western coastline to prevent irregular migration and ensure maritime safety in the Aegean Sea. (ILKHA)
