In a meeting at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, Türkiye and Qatar signed eight new agreements to expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani oversaw the signing ceremony following the 10th meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee, which they jointly chaired.
The agreements are part of an ongoing partnership between the two countries and cover a wide range of areas. The eight accords signed include:
1-Humanitarian Aid Cooperation: A framework for joint humanitarian assistance between Türkiye and Qatar.
2-Document and Archives Cooperation: A memorandum aimed at fostering collaboration in documentation and archival management.
3-Media and Communication Cooperation: An agreement to increase exchange and cooperation in media and communication.
4-Youth and Sports Implementation Program: A plan for cooperation in youth and sports for the years 2025-2026.
5-International Road Transport Cooperation: An agreement to facilitate road transport of passengers and goods between the two nations.
6-Trade Facilitation Declaration of Intent: An initiative to streamline and promote bilateral trade.
7-Technical Defense Cooperation: An agreement between the defense ministries of Türkiye and Qatar.
8-Military Cooperation: A military collaboration agreement to further enhance security ties.
Turkish Foreign Ministers Hakan Fidan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani signed a joint declaration marking the outcomes of the 10th Türkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee meeting.
Strengthening Media Collaboration
Fahrettin Altun, Türkiye’s Head of Communications, highlighted the significance of the Media and Communication Cooperation Memorandum signed between the two countries. Altun stated that the agreement, signed in the presence of President Erdoğan and Emir Al Thani, aims to enhance media exchanges and foster stronger communication ties. “We are hopeful this memorandum will bring fruitful outcomes in strengthening our media and communication cooperation,” Altun commented on social media.
These agreements represent the latest step in the deepening strategic relationship between Türkiye and Qatar, reflecting shared economic, security, and cultural goals. (ILKHA)
