Türkiye condemns Israeli provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation of recent Israeli provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, denouncing the actions as deliberate attempts to inflame tensions and impose unilateral control over the sacred Islamic site.
In a press release on Monday, the Ministry sharply criticized the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by a member of the Israeli government and the waving of the occupying state’s flag by an Israeli parliamentarian. The statement also condemned the incitement and aggressive displays by extremist Israeli settlers during a controversial march in Jerusalem.
“These acts are a clear manifestation of Israel’s ongoing policies of genocide and forced displacement targeting the Palestinian people,” the Ministry declared. “They are part of a broader campaign to alter the historical and demographic character of the occupied Palestinian territories and to unlawfully annex them.”
The Turkish government emphasized that such provocative and aggressive measures, particularly those aimed at Al-Aqsa Mosque — the third holiest site in Islam — will never succeed in changing its internationally recognized historical and legal status.
“Attempts by the Netanyahu government to impose a new reality on the ground are illegitimate and doomed to fail,” the statement asserted, reaffirming Türkiye’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their right to protect their land, heritage, and sacred sites from occupation and desecration.
The incident comes amid escalating tensions across the occupied territories, as Israeli settler violence continues to rise and right-wing officials in the Israeli government push policies that aim to Judaize Jerusalem and restrict Palestinian presence and rights.
Türkiye has consistently advocated for international protection of Islamic sanctities in Jerusalem and has called on the global community, particularly the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to take urgent steps to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law and basic human rights.
