Türkiye, Iraq to hold high-level security meeting in Antalya

The fifth High-Level Security Mechanism meeting between Türkiye and Iraq is scheduled for April 13, 2025, in Antalya.
According to a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will be co-chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
A senior-level delegation will accompany both ministers at the talks. From the Turkish side, National Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, Director of National Intelligence Organization (MIT) İbrahim Kalın, and Deputy Interior Minister Münir Karaloğlu will participate. Their respective Iraqi counterparts are also expected to be in attendance.
The meeting underscores the growing strategic dialogue between Ankara and Baghdad amid regional security challenges, including cross-border threats and counterterrorism cooperation.
Officials are expected to discuss key security issues, border security, joint efforts to combat terrorism, and avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation on regional stability.
The High-Level Security Mechanism serves as a key platform for institutional dialogue between the two neighbors, reflecting a mutual commitment to enhancing peace, security, and development in the region. (ILKHA)
