Türkiye marks World Environment Day with call for stronger sustainability efforts
Türkiye’s Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran has marked World Environment Day on June 5 with a message emphasizing environmental protection, sustainability, and responsible resource use.
In a statement shared on his NSosyal account, Duran said protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that extends beyond nature itself to the future of coming generations. He stressed that actions taken today will directly shape the world left for children tomorrow.
Duran highlighted Türkiye’s ongoing Zero Waste Initiative, implemented under the auspices of First Lady Emine Erdoğan, describing it as a nationwide environmental awareness campaign that has promoted efficient use of resources and expanded public engagement in sustainability efforts.
He noted that the initiative has grown into an internationally recognized environmental movement, contributing to broader global discussions on waste reduction and ecological responsibility.
“We believe the most valuable legacy we will leave to future generations is a preserved environment and a sustainable world,” Duran said, adding that Türkiye will continue promoting environmentally friendly practices aimed at building a cleaner and more livable future.
The message concluded with greetings for World Environment Day and Türkiye Environment Week, reaffirming the country’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development efforts. (ILKHA)
