Türkiye reaffirms support for Ukraine on Crimea annexation anniversary

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement marking the eleventh anniversary of the annexation of Ukraine’s Autonomous Republic of Crimea by Russia, reiterating its firm stance against the move.
In the press release, Türkiye reaffirmed its non-recognition of the de facto situation in Crimea, labeling the annexation—conducted through an illegitimate referendum—as a violation of international law. The ministry emphasized Türkiye’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
"Türkiye remains committed to closely monitoring developments in Crimea, particularly concerning the Crimean Tatar Turks, the indigenous people of the peninsula. We will continue to keep their situation on the agenda of the international community," the statement read.
Türkiye has consistently voiced opposition to Russia’s actions in Crimea since 2014 and continues to advocate for the rights of the Crimean Tatars, a community that has faced increasing pressure under Russian control. (ILKHA)
