Türkiye vows to block all attempts to drag Syria back into chaos

Türkiye’s National Security Council (NSC) convened on Wednesday under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex, addressing key domestic and international security developments, ongoing counterterrorism operations, and regional crises.
According to the statement released after the meeting, the Council was briefed on ongoing operations conducted “with determination, resolve, and success” both at home and abroad against threats targeting Türkiye’s national unity, solidarity, and survival. These include operations against terrorist organizations PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and DAESH.
The Council reviewed progress toward a terror-free Türkiye, emphasizing that removing the “shackles of terror” will further strengthen the nation’s unity and allow it to move toward national goals with greater speed and stability.
The NSC also evaluated the current stage in the fight against FETO, affirming the government’s “resolute determination” to completely dismantle the organization and eradicate its remaining network.
Regional Developments and Syria
Developments in Syria and the wider region were examined, with the Council reiterating continued support for the Syrian government’s efforts to safeguard the country’s unity, integrity, and stability.
Preventing attacks and occupations threatening Syria’s sovereignty, as well as countering “all forms of subversive, destructive, and separatist activities” aiming to destabilize the country, was underlined as a priority for Türkiye.
Israeli Aggression on Iran and the Region
The Council also addressed the political and military consequences of the Israeli attack on Iran, emphasizing the importance of avoiding further escalation in the Middle East, a region already facing significant instability.
The international community was called upon to assume responsibility and take decisive action to halt the Israeli government, which, after its attacks on Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, has now targeted Iran “in violation of international law” and continues its genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Russia–Ukraine Conflict
Signs of escalation in the Russia–Ukraine war were also discussed, with the Council reiterating that Türkiye is prepared to contribute in every possible way to the establishment of lasting peace.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of Türkiye’s determination to protect its national security, stability, and regional peace in the face of all threats. (ILKHA)
