Türkiye warns against rising tensions in Latakia
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has voiced concern over escalating tensions in and around Latakia, Syria, warning that recent developments could jeopardize efforts to restore stability in the region.
In a statement on Friday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Öncü Keçeli emphasized that ongoing attacks on security forces and rising tensions threaten to derail progress toward a united and stable Syria.
“These provocations must not be allowed to escalate into a broader threat to peace in Syria and the wider region,” Keçeli stated.
Reaffirming Ankara’s stance, he added: “Türkiye firmly opposes any actions that infringe on the right of Syrians to live in peace and prosperity. Türkiye remains committed to supporting the Syrian people and government in their pursuit of stability and security.”
The statement comes amid heightened regional concerns over security in Syria, as various actors navigate efforts to maintain peace and prevent further conflict. (ILKHA)
