HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu visited Batman for a series of engagements, meeting with local merchants, representatives of NGOs, and the public to address pressing social, political, and economic issues.
Yapıcıoğlu kicked off his visit by mingling with traders at Batman's bustling market square, taking time to discuss economic conditions, hardships, and public expectations at a local tea house. His interactions provided a platform for residents to voice their concerns directly to a political leader.
After engaging with the business community, Yapıcıoğlu met with representatives from Islamic NGOs, part of the Faith Platform. Here, he shared insights on recent socio-political developments both in Turkey and internationally, emphasizing the importance of dialogue among different societal sectors during his two-day visit.
Yapıcıoğlu expressed strong views on the Gaza situation, condemning the "Israeli occupation regime" for the ongoing conflict: "The Israeli regime has been perpetrating one of history's most horrific genocides in Gaza for over 15 months. The ceasefire signed recently might be violated, much like in Lebanon, given the historical tendencies," he remarked, highlighting a conversation between Trump and Netanyahu as evidence of continued aggression despite peace agreements.
He also celebrated the resilience of the Palestinian resistance, declaring: "The Palestinian resistance has achieved a victory. The Zionist regime's failure to meet its objectives signifies a moral and strategic defeat."
Discussing the recent upheaval in Syria, Yapıcıoğlu stated: "The Syrian people have achieved a revolution by overthrowing Bashar al-Assad, but the imperialists continue to stir chaos. We hope for a just system that embraces all ethnicities and religions, fostering peace in line with divine justice."
Yapıcıoğlu touched on the evolving political scenario in Turkey, particularly the Kurdish issue, which he insists:
"Is not solely about the PKK's weapons; it's a broader matter of rights and justice. We advocate for a resolution without conditions or negotiations over arms."
He critiqued the ongoing political dialogues: "The DEM delegation's meetings with various parties lack clarity on where this process is headed. We aim to consult widely and clarify these issues in upcoming statements."
Addressing local economic grievances, he noted: "Unemployment here is significantly higher than in Western Turkey, and recent pension adjustments have disappointed many. We need more humane policies to address these economic strains."
Yapıcıoğlu concluded his day with closed-door sessions with NGO representatives and community leaders, planning to extend these discussions into the next day in Batman.
His visit underscores HÜDA PAR's commitment to addressing local concerns while keeping a keen eye on national and international developments, promising a detailed follow-up after engagements in other cities. (ILKHA)
