Türkiye tests 5G in parliament, nationwide rollout planned for 2026
Türkiye is accelerating its 5G rollout, with testing now underway in the Grand National Assembly, announced Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
The 5G trials are part of a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Information and Communication Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK), private sector operators, and other public institutions. The BTK has issued test permits, enabling trials in major cities including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Kocaeli, Tekirdağ, Eskişehir, and Konya.
Beyond the parliament, 5G is already being implemented in key public venues. Istanbul Airport is now a 5G-enabled hub, and major sports stadiums, including Galatasaray’s Rams Park, Trabzonspor’s Papara Park, and Fenerbahçe’s Ülker Stadium, are also providing 5G connectivity.
“Just like at Istanbul Airport, our citizens have started to experience 5G technology in stadiums,” Minister Uraloğlu stated. “The test-trial process has now begun in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.”
Türkiye aims to achieve nationwide 5G coverage by 2026, marking a significant advancement in its digital infrastructure. This ambitious goal reflects the country's commitment to technological innovation and economic growth.
Experts emphasize that achieving nationwide 5G coverage will require substantial investment in infrastructure, robust regulatory frameworks, and public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the benefits of 5G. The technology is expected to revolutionize various industries, enhance communication networks, and drive economic development across Türkiye. (ILKHA)
