Afghan, Iranian foreign ministers meet in Tehran for bilateral talks
Afghanistan's Foreign Minister, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments, and opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
According to officials, the meeting focused on strengthening diplomatic ties, enhancing regional collaboration, and addressing issues of mutual interest.
During the talks, Minister Muttaqi conveyed his condolences to the Iranian leadership over the martyrdom of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He also outlined the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan's position regarding recent United States and Israeli actions against Iran, expressing hope that the ongoing tensions and hostilities would be brought to a swift and lasting end.
The Afghan foreign minister emphasized the importance of regional stability and underscored the need for dialogue and cooperation among neighboring countries to address shared challenges.
For his part, Foreign Minister Araghchi welcomed the Islamic Emirate's stance on recent developments and praised the growing relationship between Tehran and Kabul.
Araghchi stated that relations between Iran and Afghanistan remain positive and are continuing to expand across various sectors. He highlighted the importance of maintaining close cooperation between the two neighboring nations and reaffirmed Tehran's commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.
