The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs, together with the United Nations, convened a pivotal meeting to tackle the pressing issues confronting returnees and internally displaced persons in Afghanistan.
Mawlavi Abdul Rahman Rashid, Deputy Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, met with Farhana Starker, the UN Senior Advisor on Sustainable Solutions, to explore strategic approaches for long-term resolution of these challenges.
In a statement released post-meeting, the Ministry stressed the significance of forging robust partnerships with international and local organizations. Deputy Minister Rashid pointed out the urgency of the situation, explaining that Afghan refugees have been forcibly returned from neighboring countries in recent years, significantly increasing the load on the Ministry to provide adequate support.
Starker affirmed the UN's commitment to enhancing coordination with governmental agencies. "Our aim is to achieve durable solutions through mutual cooperation," she declared, underlining the need for joint action to alleviate the hardships faced by displaced communities.
The agenda also included plans for organizing technical meetings and sharing strategic roadmaps with partner organizations to draft comprehensive, sustainable solutions for the affected populations. (ILKHA)
