Afghanistan, Pakistan, and China to hold sixth trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting in Kabul

The sixth trilateral meeting of foreign ministers from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and China will be held in Kabul, Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi confirmed following recent high-level diplomatic engagements.
The announcement was made after Minister Muttaqi met with Chinese Special Representative Yu Xiaoyong and Pakistani Special Representative Mohammad Sadiq to discuss ongoing cooperation and regional developments.
During the meeting, the officials reviewed progress made since the last trilateral dialogue and reaffirmed their shared commitment to political stability, economic integration, and regional connectivity. Minister Muttaqi emphasized that strengthening relations between the three countries was essential for mutual progress and peace in the region.
“We consider cooperation with our neighbors and regional powers vital,” Muttaqi stated. “This upcoming meeting reflects our joint desire to build a more stable and economically connected region.”
Representatives from China and Pakistan echoed these sentiments, expressing their continued support for closer engagement with Afghanistan across multiple sectors, including trade, infrastructure, and counter-terrorism.
The trilateral format, first initiated in 2017, has served as a key diplomatic channel for addressing shared regional concerns and boosting cooperation, particularly in the wake of Afghanistan’s changing political landscape since 2021.
Preparations for the Kabul meeting are underway, with the agenda expected to include discussions on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), cross-border security, and Afghanistan’s integration into regional development frameworks. (ILKHA)
