Arab Parliament Speaker calls for concrete steps to establish Palestinian state

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, has called on the international community to transform the growing global recognition of the State of Palestine into concrete steps toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Speaking at the consultative meeting of the Arab Group within the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held ahead of the 151st General Assembly session in Geneva, Al-Yamahi stressed the urgent need for Arab and international coordination to intensify diplomatic, political, and humanitarian efforts in support of the Palestinian cause.
He underscored that the Arab world must act collectively to translate political recognition into meaningful realities on the ground, emphasizing that the ultimate goal remains the liberation of Palestine and the realization of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
Al-Yamahi further highlighted the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate and large-scale international mobilization to rebuild the devastated enclave and alleviate the suffering caused by continuous Israeli aggression. “It is imperative to rebuild Gaza, heal its wounds, and support its people who continue to endure occupation and siege,” he said.
The Arab Parliament Speaker referred to the “Two-State Solution Conference” held on September 22 at the UN General Assembly headquarters in New York, which reaffirmed international recognition of the State of Palestine. He urged that such declarations be followed by “decisive and practical steps” to implement the resolutions that ensure justice and freedom for the Palestinian people.
“The time has come for the world to move from statements to action,” Al-Yamahi concluded, reiterating that peace and stability in the Middle East can only be achieved through the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its eternal capital. (ILKHA)
