At least 10 civilians injured in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon

Tensions soared along the Lebanon-Israel border Sunday night as Israeli airstrikes and ground incursions left at least 10 Lebanese civilians injured and sparked condemnation over ongoing violations of Lebanese sovereignty.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli warplanes launched a series of air raids across southern and eastern Lebanon, with the most severe strike hitting the town of Bourj Rahal in the Tyre district, where nine civilians were wounded. In a separate attack near the city of Sidon, a young girl was seriously injured in the village of al-Zarariyah and remains in intensive care.
The strikes came amid escalating Israeli military operations in Lebanese territory. Air raids were reported in the outskirts of Bodai and the highlands near Flawi in the Baalbek District, as well as in several areas of southern Lebanon, including Bouslaiya and the region stretching between Ain Qana, Sarba, and Houmin el-Fawqa. In Irzay, residents reported hearing four consecutive airstrikes late in the evening.
In a notable escalation, Israeli ground troops reportedly crossed 400 meters into Lebanese territory near the border town of Kfar Kila. Under the cover of tanks, Israeli forces conducted bulldozing operations around the Shallhoub station, near the Fatima Gate, effectively breaching the UN-demarcated Blue Line.
Local reports also indicated Israeli troop movements near the southern border town of Aita al-Shaab and along adjacent areas, raising alarm among residents and prompting mobilization among Lebanese border units.
The latest strikes come on the heels of deadly drone attacks the previous day, which left one civilian dead and at least five others wounded in various parts of southern Lebanon. A drone hit the town of Saf al-Hawa in Bint Jbeil, killing one and wounding two others. In Shebaa, another strike targeted a residential home, injuring one family member. In Shaqra, two individuals sustained critical injuries and remain hospitalized in intensive care.
Human rights groups and local media have accused Israel of repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement in effect since 2006, warning that the recent escalation risks igniting a broader conflict in the region.
Meanwhile, the situation has been further complicated by Israel’s reported arrest of the West Bank bureau chief of Al Mayadeen, a major Lebanese news outlet. The move has triggered outcry in Beirut and calls for international pressure on Israel to respect press freedoms.
Lebanon’s government is said to be preparing a unified response to a recent U.S. proposal concerning the disarmament of Resistance forces, amid growing political debate over Lebanon's defense posture and national sovereignty.
The Lebanese Armed Forces and local municipalities in the south remain on high alert as surveillance and emergency operations continue. Civil defense teams have been dispatched to the affected areas to assess damage, assist civilians, and prepare for potential further attacks.
With diplomatic efforts ongoing and no clear sign of de-escalation, residents of southern Lebanon brace for continued instability as cross-border violence threatens to spiral into a broader confrontation. (ILKHA)
