At least 50 Palestinians detained amid escalating Israeli raids in the West Bank
The Israeli occupation forces have detained at least 50 Palestinians during widespread overnight raids across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, according to a statement from the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society.
The statement said that Israeli forces continued their intensive raids across several areas, including Qalqilya, Jericho, Jenin, Bethlehem, Nablus, and Ramallah, arresting dozens of Palestinians and subjecting many neighborhoods to aggressive military activity.
In the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, Israeli forces reportedly continued interrogating Palestinian residents in open areas for extended hours.
Local sources indicated that during the arrest campaigns, Israeli soldiers carried out physical assaults, opened live fire in some areas, and destroyed homes and property while detaining residents. Several detainees were subjected to field interrogations and harsh treatment.
The Prisoners’ Society stated that the Israeli regime continues its “daily arrest policy,” targeting all segments of Palestinian society as part of its escalating campaign in the occupied territories.
Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza in October 2023, the West Bank and Jerusalem have witnessed a dramatic surge in raids, arrests, and attacks. Over this period, approximately 20,500 Palestinians from the West Bank have been detained, reflecting a sharp escalation in Israeli repression.
The organization warned that the ongoing arrest campaigns are part of a systematic attempt to intimidate the population and break Palestinian social resilience amid continued assaults across the region. (ILKHA)
