Death toll in Gaza rises as Israeli airstrikes intensify: 90 killed, 605 wounded in 24 hours

At least 90 Palestinians were killed and 605 others wounded in the past 24 hours as Israeli occupation forces escalated their bombardment across the Gaza Strip, the Gaza Ministry of Health reported on Saturday.
Over the past 48 hours alone, 274 Palestinians have been confirmed dead, with more than 2,532 others injured. The ministry stated that 29 of the recent fatalities occurred while victims were awaiting emergency aid, highlighting the catastrophic collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system under ongoing siege and airstrikes.
Since March 18, 2025, sustained Israeli military operations have killed at least 5,014 Palestinians and left 16,385 others wounded, according to official health figures.
The total death toll since the start of the conflict on October 7, 2023, now stands at 55,297, with more than 128,426 injured. The majority of the victims are reported to be women and children.
The ministry also noted that many bodies remain trapped under the rubble of homes and buildings destroyed by airstrikes. Rescue efforts are severely hampered due to the persistent attacks and decimated infrastructure, leaving emergency crews unable to access affected areas.
Humanitarian conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate, with aid agencies and international observers urging an immediate ceasefire. Health and rescue officials warn the real toll could be significantly higher, as many casualties have yet to be accounted for amid ongoing chaos. (ILKHA)
