Five more Palestinians die of starvation as Gaza faces catastrophic famine

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported the deaths of five Palestinians, including a child, in the past 24 hours due to starvation and acute malnutrition.
This brings the total number of famine-related fatalities in Gaza to 404, including 141 children, highlighting the devastating impact of the ongoing blockade and war.
Hospitals across Gaza continue to receive a steady influx of malnourished patients, with some 900,000 children currently suffering from hunger, of whom 70,000 have already entered the stage of severe malnutrition. Health workers warn that the situation is rapidly deteriorating, with limited medical supplies and food further straining the already overwhelmed healthcare system.
The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is a direct consequence of the genocidal war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023, compounded by the decades-long blockade that has restricted access to essential goods. Since March 2, 2025, Israeli authorities have closed all crossings into Gaza, preventing most food and medical aid from entering the territory, accelerating famine and threatening countless lives.
International observers and Palestinian advocates warn that the combination of military aggression, siege policies, and restricted humanitarian access constitutes systematic collective punishment, with children and vulnerable populations disproportionately affected.
“The situation in Gaza is critical and worsening by the hour,” said a spokesperson from a local medical organization. “Every day that aid is blocked, more Palestinians—especially children—are dying of starvation and preventable diseases. The international community must act to lift the siege and provide immediate relief.”
As Gaza continues to face severe shortages of food, medicine, and basic necessities, the international community faces mounting pressure to hold Israel accountable and ensure urgent humanitarian access to the besieged population. (ILKHA)
