Gaza Civil Defense recovers 66 more bodies amidst ongoing search efforts
Gaza's Civil Defense teams have recovered the bodies of 66 Palestinians from the rubble of destroyed buildings, the agency announced on Tuesday.
Fifty-eight bodies were retrieved in southern Gaza on Monday, while eight more were recovered from the rubble in the northern part of the Strip.
The agency stated that search and rescue operations are ongoing, but hampered by a lack of necessary machinery to effectively navigate the extensive destruction.
This grim discovery comes after a ceasefire agreement took effect on Sunday, halting Israel's 15-month-long aggression in Gaza that resulted in the tragic deaths of nearly 47,000 Palestinians, primarily women and children, and left over 110,700 injured.
The 3-phase ceasefire agreement includes a prisoner exchange and aims to establish a lasting calm and ultimately achieve a permanent truce and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
The Israeli assault has had a devastating impact, with over 11,000 people missing and widespread destruction leading to a severe humanitarian crisis. The lack of basic necessities, including food, water, and medical supplies, has tragically claimed the lives of many elderly people and children, making this one of the worst humanitarian disasters in recent history.
