Gaza faces new internet, phone blackout amid Israeli attacks

The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) confirmed on Monday a renewed disruption of fixed-line and internet services in the southern and central regions of the Gaza Strip.
In an official statement, the TRA announced it is actively monitoring the situation alongside local telecommunications providers and conducting ongoing technical assessments aimed at restoring services as quickly as possible.
The authority emphasized the urgent need for the protection of telecommunications personnel and the safe passage of maintenance teams to damaged sites, underlining the essential role of uninterrupted communication services during a time of severe humanitarian crisis.
Since the beginning of the Israeli occupation’s assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, internet and telecommunications services have faced repeated outages across the Strip. The most recent blackout occurred last week, reportedly triggered by heavy Israeli bombardments and the critical depletion of fuel supplies needed to power generators.
The TRA continues to call for international support and accountability to ensure the protection of Gaza’s critical infrastructure and the basic rights of its civilian population. (ILKHA)
