Hamas announces transfer of Israeli captives’ remains on Thursday

The military wing of Hamas, the Qassam Brigades, announced on Wednesday that the bodies of the Bibas family and Israeli captive Oded Lifshitz would be handed over on Thursday as part of the ongoing ceasefire exchange deal.
Spokesperson Abu Obeida stated that all the individuals were alive before Israeli airstrikes allegedly targeted their detention sites, holding Israel responsible for their deaths.
Similarly, the Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, also confirmed the transfer of Lifshitz’s remains. Spokesperson Abu Hamza accused Israel of deliberately attacking locations where captives were held, claiming that Lifshitz was killed in Israeli airstrikes during the Gaza conflict.
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions as ceasefire negotiations continue. The exchange deal is seen as a crucial step in de-escalating the conflict, though both Palestinian factions have accused Israel of deliberately endangering captives' lives through its military operations in Gaza.
Israeli officials have not yet commented on the claims. The transfer of remains is expected to take place under international mediation efforts. (ILKHA)
