Humanitarian crisis in Jenin: Ongoing Israeli offensive forces 20,000 to flee

The Israeli military's relentless assault on Jenin and its refugee camp has entered its 25th consecutive day, leaving a trail of death, destruction, and mass displacement.
At least 25 Palestinians have been killed, dozens wounded, and entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble as Israeli forces continue their brutal military campaign. Local sources report that the prolonged aggression has forced 20,000 residents to flee their homes, turning Jenin into a war zone.
The scale of destruction is staggering. More than 470 homes and structures have been either completely or partially demolished due to relentless shelling and demolitions. The attacks have left entire families homeless, while many others remain trapped under siege conditions.
The humanitarian crisis is worsening by the day. Food, water, and electricity are running out, with children and the elderly suffering the most. Israeli forces have cut off access to four major hospitals, depriving 35% of Jenin’s population of clean water, heightening fears of a catastrophic public health crisis. Schools and healthcare services have been completely shut down, leaving civilians without essential aid.
Israeli forces have escalated their campaign of terror through mass arrests and home invasions. At least 120 Palestinians from Jenin and its refugee camp have been detained, with many subjected to field interrogations and inhumane treatment. Military raids have reached 153, while 14 airstrikes have further devastated residential areas.
On Thursday, Israeli forces assaulted two civilians at the Al-Jalama military checkpoint north of Jenin, leaving them injured. The same day, an Israeli airstrike targeted a vehicle in the eastern neighborhood of the city, narrowly avoiding casualties.
Adding to the suffering, Israeli occupation authorities have issued a demolition notice to the Hashash family in Jenin. Their home was already partially destroyed and burned down last year after a violent siege that ended with the killing of two family members. Now, Israeli forces have given them just 72 hours before their home is completely erased.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society reports that over 380 Palestinians have been arrested across Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas since the start of the military offensive. These brutal actions are part of Israel’s ongoing policy of collective punishment, in violation of international law.
As the humanitarian catastrophe in Jenin deepens, global condemnation is growing. Human rights organizations and international bodies are calling for an immediate end to Israeli aggression and urgent humanitarian intervention. Yet, despite mounting pressure, the siege on Jenin continues with no signs of respite.
Palestinians in Jenin remain defiant, vowing to resist the occupation’s attempts to erase their presence. The world watches as the crisis unfolds, with demands for justice growing louder. (ILKHA)
