Three Palestinian police officers were martyred and others injured early Sunday morning after an Israeli airstrike targeted them in the ash-Shuka area in eastern Rafah, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Interior.
The airstrike struck while the officers were on duty, protecting humanitarian aid convoys in the area, the ministry said. Two policemen died immediately, while a third succumbed to critical injuries later.
The three martyrs have been identified as Yousef al-Eid, Ibrahim al-Eid, and Bilal al-Maghari.
Gaza’s Interior Ministry strongly condemned the attack, calling it part of Israel’s ongoing war against Gaza’s civilian institutions. The ministry described the police force as a civilian apparatus dedicated to protecting civilians and organizing daily affairs, urging the international community to intervene and stop Israel’s deliberate targeting of security personnel.
“The Israeli occupation continues to attack those working to protect humanitarian aid and ensure public safety,” the ministry stated, calling for urgent international action.
The latest Israeli airstrike follows a similar attack on Saturday, when an Israeli warplane bombed the Abu Halawa area in eastern Rafah, killing a Palestinian civilian.
Israel’s relentless bombing campaign has resulted in widespread destruction and mass casualties across Gaza, with no regard for international laws protecting civilian infrastructure and humanitarian workers.
With over 48,000 Palestinians killed since the Israeli onslaught began, humanitarian conditions in Gaza remain catastrophic. Yet, despite mounting global condemnation, Israel continues to target civilian police officers, aid workers, and infrastructure, further deepening the suffering of Gaza’s besieged population. (ILKHA)
