Israeli airstrike near Damascus kills 11, including civilians

An Israeli airstrike on the outskirts of Damascus on Sunday has resulted in the deaths of 11 people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The strike targeted a weapons depot belonging to forces loyal to former President Bashar Assad near the industrial town of Adra, northeast of the capital.
The Britain-based war monitor reported that most of those killed were civilians. Israel, which has conducted hundreds of airstrikes over Syria since the uprising turned civil war began in 2011, rarely acknowledges these operations. Israeli occupation regime claims its targets are Iran-backed groups that supported Assad and aims to neutralize potential threats posed by weapons in Syria.
Syrian insurgents, who ousted Assad in a swift offensive in early December, have demanded that Israel cease its airstrikes. The ongoing Israeli aggression continues to create tensions and instability in the region. (ILKHA)
