Israeli airstrikes target military sites across Syria

Israeli warplanes launched multiple illegal airstrikes early Thursday, targeting Syrian Army positions in Latakia province and other regions across the country.
The latest attack struck the headquarters of the 107th and 132nd brigades in the village of Bazamel in rural Latakia, northwestern Syria—an area critical to the defense of Syria’s territorial integrity.
This fresh escalation came less than 24 hours after a violent Israeli aerial assault on the capital, Damascus, where key national defense institutions, including the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff headquarters, were deliberately targeted. The strikes also hit areas near the presidential palace in a clear attempt to destabilize Syria’s command structure.
The Zionist aggression inflicted material damage, but Syrian resilience remains unbroken. The people and armed forces of Syria continue to stand firm in the face of these repeated violations of international law and national sovereignty.
In addition to the capital, Israeli warplanes also struck multiple towns in the Damascus countryside—among them Qatana—as well as parts of Daraa province and the vital international highway linking southern Syria to Damascus. Rural areas of Daraa and Sweida were also hit, as confirmed by local media correspondents.
Since Monday evening, Syrian forces have been carrying out a mission to restore order in Sweida province, which has seen deadly clashes involving armed Druze factions and tribal militias. The Syrian Army’s intervention was aimed at protecting civilians and ensuring stability, but Israel responded by launching unprovoked air raids—an apparent attempt to disrupt Syria’s internal peace efforts.
This latest series of attacks is part of Israel’s ongoing campaign to undermine Syria’s sovereignty, targeting Syrian military infrastructure under the pretext of countering so-called threats. However, the real goal appears to be the weakening of Syria’s national defense and the further destabilization of the region.
Despite this aggression, Syria reaffirms its right to defend its territory and people. The Syrian Arab Army, backed by a determined nation, continues to confront foreign plots and uphold the dignity and independence of the Syrian homeland. The international community is called upon to condemn these repeated Israeli violations and stand against the unlawful use of force against a sovereign state. (ILKHA)
