Israeli forces detain 31 Palestinians in widespread West Bank raids
Israeli forces launched a large-scale detention campaign across multiple areas of the occupied West Bank early Tuesday, detaining at least 31 Palestinians, including university students, former prisoners, and civilians, according to local and security sources.
The raids involved simultaneous military operations across several governorates, during which homes were searched and property was reportedly damaged.
In the Tulkarm governorate, Israeli forces detained 13 Palestinians following overnight raids on the city, nearby suburbs, and the Al-Sha’arawiya area. Those detained include several former prisoners.
Local sources identified detainees as Alaa Abdel Hadi; former prisoners Adnan Khader Al-Husari (60), Raja’i Ahmad Amouri (42), Abdel Latif Nafea Hamdan (45), Mohammed Saeed Shalabiya (45), Alaa Shaheen, Mahmoud Saeedi (37), and Osaid Aref (45), among others.
Additional arrests were reported in Attil, Saida, and surrounding towns, with several individuals taken during coordinated home raids.
In the Nablus governorate, ten Palestinians were detained during raids on the village of Surra, west of Nablus, and the town of Beita, south of the city.
Those detained from Surra include Yamen Khaled Abu Hussein, Zubaid Saud Turabi, Mohammed Nabil Ghanem, Hilmi Ayman, Karim Muhannad Ghanem, Ayman Wasfi Turabi, Khalil Wasfi Turabi, Mohammed Akram Turabi, and Karim Munther Turabi. Taher Sama’na was detained from Beita.
Israeli forces also carried out raids in Aqraba, Beit Iba, and the New Nablus area, conducting extensive searches of residential homes.
In the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, four female Birzeit University students were detained during separate raids on their homes.
The detainees were identified as Natalie Abu Diya, Joulan Abu Awwad, Sama Safi, and Leila Khalil. The first three were detained in Birzeit, while Khalil was arrested in Beitunia, west of Ramallah.
Three additional young men were detained in nearby villages, including Deir Abu Mash’al and Abu Shkheidim.
In the Bethlehem governorate, Israeli forces raided the village of Beit Ta’mir and detained Ali Mohammed Omar Soman (24) after searching his family home.
The detention campaign is part of a broader escalation in Israeli military operations across the occupied West Bank, where near-daily raids, arrests, and movement restrictions have intensified in parallel with the ongoing conflict in the region.
Palestinian prisoner rights organizations say detention operations have significantly increased since the start of the war, frequently targeting university students, former prisoners, activists, and other segments of Palestinian society.
They also report that raids are often accompanied by property damage, confrontations with residents, and widespread disruption to civilian life.
West Bank communities continue to face regular military incursions involving home searches, road closures, field interrogations, and mass detentions, contributing to growing tensions across the territory. (ILKHA)
