Israeli forces kill Palestinian teen, detain dozens in the West Bank
A Palestinian teenager was killed on Monday evening after Israeli occupation forces (IOF) carried out a military raid in the town of Tuqu‘, southeast of Beit Lahm (Bethlehem), in the occupied West Bank, amid a surge in raids, settler violence, and mass detentions across multiple governorates.
Local authorities identified the victim as 17-year-old Ammar Yasser Sabah. Tayseer Abu Mafrah, head of the Tuqu‘ municipal council, said the teenager was shot in the chest when Israeli forces stormed the town, deployed in its center, and opened fire with live ammunition in an indiscriminate manner.
Medical teams rushed Ammar to the town’s clinic and attempted to provide emergency treatment, but his condition was reported as critical. He was later pronounced dead, and his body was transferred to Beit Jala Governmental Hospital.
Following the shooting, confrontations erupted between local residents and Israeli forces, who fired live bullets and tear gas. Several Palestinians suffered suffocation injuries due to tear gas inhalation during the clashes.
Elsewhere in the southern West Bank, Israeli occupation forces also raided the town of Sa‘eer, east of al-Khalil (Hebron). In central areas of the West Bank, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported that Israeli gunfire wounded a young man near the separation wall in Ramallah, north of occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Settler violence was also reported on Monday evening, as Israeli settlers set fire to olive trees in the village of Burqa, east of Ramallah. Local sources said settlers targeted the al-Hadab area in western Burqa, torching several olive trees. Despite rainy conditions, the trees ignited, indicating the use of highly flammable materials and raising fears that nearby homes could have been endangered.
According to the Palestinian Wall and Colonization Resistance Commission, Israeli occupation forces and settlers carried out 2,144 attacks against Palestinians and their property in November 2025 alone. Of these, 1,523 attacks were attributed to Israeli forces and 621 to settlers. The highest number of incidents was recorded in Ramallah and al-Bireh (360), followed by al-Khalil (348), Beit Lahm (342), and Nablus (334).
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Information Center reported that Israeli forces launched a wide-ranging campaign of raids and detentions earlier on Monday across the occupied West Bank, resulting in the arrest of dozens of Palestinians and significant property damage.
In the town of Jaba‘, south of Jenin, Israeli troops stormed a home and detained several young men. Additional arrests were reported in Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah, where Abdul Rahman Ishaq Hamayel was detained. In Kafr Thulth, southeast of Qalqilya, Israeli forces detained Abdul Rahman Hossam Hamadallah Odeh, just two weeks after his brother Harith was taken into custody.
Further south, in the village of Fasayil, north of Areeha (Jericho), former detainee Omar Nawawra was arrested following a raid on his home. In the Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied al-Quds, Israeli troops fired illumination flares during their incursion into the camp.
In the Nablus area, Israeli forces raided the town of Madama, south of the city, detaining Mohammed Hatem Nassar and Mohammed Dhafer Qatt. South of Nablus, the IOF stormed the town of Awarta, forcibly entering and searching Palestinian homes to secure the area for Israeli settlers who were escorted by military vehicles to perform Talmudic rituals at local shrines.
The killing of the teenage boy in Tuqu‘ and the ongoing wave of raids, arrests, and settler attacks have further intensified tensions across the occupied West Bank, amid growing Palestinian and international concerns over escalating violence and the continued targeting of civilians. (ILKHA)
