Israeli forces launch large-scale operation in northern West Bank towns
The Israeli occupation army launched a large-scale military operation on Wednesday morning in the northern West Bank city of Tubas and the nearby towns of Tammun, Tayasir, and Aqqaba, with local officials reporting that the occupation’s presence in the area could continue for several days.
According to local sources and media reports, dozens of Israeli troops, accompanied by bulldozers, stormed Tubas and surrounding towns, pillaging homes and destroying property. Helicopters and reconnaissance drones were observed conducting intensive overflights, while intermittent gunfire from the air caused panic among residents.
Israeli bulldozers reportedly destroyed roads and blocked main entrances with mounds of dirt and debris, isolating the Tubas governorate from other parts of the West Bank. Local schools and kindergartens suspended educational activities until further notice due to the ongoing military operations.
Eyewitnesses said families were forced to leave their homes at gunpoint to accommodate Israeli soldiers using residences as temporary military barracks. Ambulances faced restrictions moving through the streets, heightening fears for civilians’ safety and freedom of movement.
The Tubas governor confirmed that the Israeli army declared a curfew beginning at 4:00 a.m. and continuing until further notice. The Israeli military justified its operation as a preemptive measure against alleged terrorist activity.
Governor Ahmed al-Asaad, however, emphasized that there are no wanted persons in the Tubas governorate. He warned that the operation is part of a broader attempt by Israel to impose a new military fait accompli in the West Bank, further undermining the safety and rights of Palestinian residents.
The operation comes amid growing tensions in the occupied West Bank, as Israeli forces continue raids, arrests, and home invasions that exacerbate the humanitarian and security crisis for Palestinian communities. (ILKHA)
