Israeli occupation forces escalate brutal campaign against Palestinian camps

The Israeli occupation forces have intensified their relentless aggression against the Palestinian city of Tulkarm and its refugee camps.
In a blatant display of oppression, the occupation has unleashed a suffocating siege, forced mass displacement, and widespread destruction, targeting the defenseless Palestinian population with impunity.
This morning, occupation forces issued a chilling ultimatum to residents of the al-Hadaydeh and al-Matar neighborhoods in Tulkarm camp, demanding they evacuate their homes by noon under threat of violence. Local sources report that Israeli troops stormed the al-Raba'a neighborhood, ransacking homes and subjecting residents to harrowing interrogations. Over recent days, a mass exodus has gripped the camp, with families from Qaqun, Abu al-Ful, and Marbat Hanoun fleeing their homes. Today, al-Hadaydeh and al-Matar joined the ranks of the displaced, coerced by Israeli threats and intimidation.
Tulkarm camp, once a bustling community of over 12,000 refugees, now stands eerily empty, its residents forcibly uprooted by the occupation’s systematic campaign. Israeli soldiers roam the deserted streets, raiding abandoned homes and converting them into military outposts and sniper nests. Shops, institutions, and even mosques have not been spared, with reports of vandalism and theft by occupation forces.
In Nur Shams camp, the situation is equally dire. Israeli bulldozers relentlessly demolish homes and infrastructure, particularly in the Manshiyya neighborhood, erasing the camp’s landmarks in what appears to be a deliberate attempt to obliterate its identity. Amid a crippling siege that bans all entry, a fuel tanker was spotted entering the camp, raising fears of further destruction. Homes in the Jabal al-Nasr neighborhood have been seized, while residents on the western outskirts were forcibly evicted, with signs pointing to Israel’s intent to transform the area into a permanent military barracks.
Eyewitnesses describe a daily nightmare of bulldozing and demolition, reducing homes, alleyways, and vital infrastructure to rubble. The occupation’s heavy military reinforcements, including bulldozers and armored vehicles, continue to pour into Tulkarm and its camps, tightening the noose around the city. Infantry units patrol the main streets, firing sound bombs to terrorize residents and blocking key roads like al-Sikka and Nablus Streets with earth mounds.
In a further violation of Palestinian rights, Israeli forces raided the al-Huda building on Nablus Street, searching apartments and confiscating residents’ cell phones. Nearby homes have been commandeered as military barracks, with vehicles stationed ominously amid severe restrictions on movement.
The toll of this brutal escalation is staggering. Since the onslaught began, 13 Palestinian civilians—including a child, two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant—have been killed by occupation forces. Dozens more have been injured or arrested, while over 24,000 people from Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps have been forcibly displaced. The aggression has left a trail of devastation, crippling water, electricity, sewage, and communications networks. Homes, shops, and vehicles lie in ruins—burned, looted, and vandalized by Israeli troops.
Entrances and alleys to the camps remain sealed with earth mounds, trapping those who remain and cutting off access to aid. This campaign of violence and displacement is yet another chapter in Israel’s ongoing war on Palestinian existence, aimed at erasing their presence and rewriting the geography of their homeland.
As the international community remains largely silent, the people of Tulkarm and its camps endure unimaginable suffering, their resilience tested daily by an occupation determined to crush their spirit. The question remains: how long will the world allow this injustice to persist? (ILKHA)
