Israeli settler gangs attack Palestinian civilians in Deir Nidham
Israeli settlers launched a fresh wave of attacks on Wednesday evening, targeting Palestinian vehicles in the village of Deir Nidham, northwest of Ramallah, in yet another act of terror against the native population of the occupied West Bank.
According to local sources, groups of extremist settlers, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, hurled stones at Palestinian vehicles near the entrance to the village, shattering windows and damaging several cars. Residents reported that the attack caused widespread fear among families in the area, although no physical injuries were immediately reported.
Eyewitnesses described how settlers gathered on the main road leading to the village and ambushed passing Palestinian cars, forcing drivers to stop or turn back to avoid further assaults. Such attacks have become a daily nightmare for Palestinians living near illegal settlements, who face harassment, arson, and property destruction at the hands of armed settler groups.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission confirmed that Israeli settlers have carried out over 7,150 attacks on Palestinians and their property across the West Bank since October 7, 2023—a staggering number that reflects the growing impunity of settler violence. These assaults have resulted in the killing of at least 34 Palestinians, in addition to hundreds wounded, displaced, or forced to abandon their lands.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned that settler attacks—often backed or ignored by Israeli military forces—form part of a broader campaign to terrorize Palestinians and expand settlement control across occupied territories. Entire communities, particularly in areas like Hebron, Nablus, and Ramallah, have faced ongoing intimidation campaigns involving arson attacks on homes, vandalism of olive trees, and assaults on shepherds and farmers.
Since the beginning of the war on Gaza, settler aggression in the West Bank has sharply intensified. Villages such as Huwwara, Burqa, and Turmus Ayya have witnessed coordinated settler raids that have burned Palestinian homes and vehicles while Israeli soldiers stood by or joined the violence.
Palestinian officials have condemned the attacks, holding the Israeli occupation fully responsible for settler terrorism and calling on the international community to take immediate action to protect Palestinian civilians under occupation.
The escalation of settler assaults underscores the brutal reality of life under occupation, where Palestinians are not only deprived of their land and freedom but also forced to endure daily terror at the hands of heavily armed settlers acting with total impunity. (ILKHA)
