A suicide bomber attacked near government offices in Kabul on Thursday, killing one person and injuring three others, an official spokesman confirmed.
This incident marks the second explosion in Afghanistan within a week.
The bomber was identified by security guards as he neared the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, leading to a confrontation where the attacker was shot, triggering the explosion. The Interior Ministry reported that the bomber was also killed in the blast.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred in a central area of Kabul, close to administrative buildings and several foreign embassies, including the now-empty U.S. Embassy, which was vacated after the withdrawal of American and other foreign forces in 2021.
This comes days after another suicide bombing on Tuesday in northeastern Afghanistan, where a bomber detonated explosives outside a bank, killing at least five people. (ILKHA)
