Nearly 1,000 Afghan families return home as repatriation efforts intensify
A total of 981 Afghan families returned to Afghanistan on Saturday, marking a notable increase in repatriation in recent days, according to local authorities.
Upon their arrival, the returning families received support and assistance from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, aimed at facilitating their reintegration into society and helping them rebuild their lives. The assistance reportedly included initial relief support, basic necessities, and guidance to help families resettle after years of displacement.
Officials said the renewed flow of returnees reflects ongoing regional repatriation processes and changing conditions for Afghan refugees in neighboring countries. Many of the returning families had been living abroad for years, often under difficult circumstances, before deciding or being compelled to return.
The Islamic Emirate has stated that it is working to expand reception and reintegration programs to meet the growing needs of returnees, particularly in the areas of housing, employment, healthcare, and education. Authorities have also called on humanitarian organizations to increase cooperation to ensure sustainable support for returning families.
Afghanistan continues to face significant economic and humanitarian challenges, and aid agencies have warned that large-scale returns place additional pressure on already limited resources. Nonetheless, officials say efforts are underway to provide returning families with dignity and support as they seek to restart their lives in their homeland. (ILKHA)
