Pakistan: Suicide attack on paramilitary base kills three in Peshawar
A coordinated suicide attack targeted the headquarters of the Federal Constabulary (FC) paramilitary force in Peshawar on Monday, resulting in the deaths of at least three security personnel and wounding several others, according to local media reports.
The assault involved three militants. According to the Pakistani newspaper The Dawn, one of the attackers detonated an explosive grenade at the entrance gate of the complex. The remaining two attempted to breach the compound but were quickly engaged and shot dead by security personnel.
“Three FC officers stationed at the gate were also killed,” Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Mian Saeed Ahmad confirmed to the newspaper.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the deadly incident.
This attack follows a similar high-profile incident less than two weeks prior, where a suicide bomber targeted an area outside a court in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital. That bombing, which saw explosives detonated next to a police vehicle, killed 12 people. The recent surge in attacks highlights ongoing security challenges in the region. (ILKHA)
