Russia launches massive drone assault on Ukraine

Russia launched a massive wave of drone attacks across Ukraine early Wednesday, deploying over 100 combat drones in a relentless assault, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported.
The barrage, which targeted cities and infrastructure, underscores the escalating air threat faced by Ukraine amid Russia’s ongoing invasion.
In a Telegram post, Zelensky described the attacks as a near-daily occurrence, stating, “Russian drones have been flying over Ukraine all morning.” He revealed that Russia has unleashed a total of 375 combat drones on Ukrainian targets since the start of the week. Wednesday’s strikes hit Kharkiv, Dnipro, and the mining town of Dobropillia, resulting in at least one fatality and approximately 50 injuries, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Zelensky condemned the attacks and urged the international community to respond with “strong additional sanctions” to pressure Russia into halting its invasion, which began in February 2022. He also reiterated calls for urgent military aid, emphasizing the need for advanced air defense systems to protect Ukrainian skies and civilians from the growing drone threat.
The relentless attacks highlight the increasing reliance on drones in Russia’s military strategy, placing immense strain on Ukraine’s defenses. As Kyiv grapples with the daily reality of aerial assaults, Zelensky’s administration continues to seek robust global support to bolster the country’s resilience and counter Moscow’s aggression.
