Train hits police vehicle in Pakistan’s Punjab: 2 officers killed, 3 injured
A tragic railway accident in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province has left two police officers dead and three others injured after a police vehicle was struck by a passenger train.
The incident took place at a railway crossing in the Sargodha district, local media reported. A police vehicle was crossing the tracks when it was hit by the Millat Express train, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Emergency and security teams were dispatched to the scene shortly after the collision. Two police officers died as a result of the impact, while three others sustained injuries. The wounded officers were provided with first aid at the scene and later transferred to nearby hospitals for further medical treatment.
Authorities said the condition of the injured officers is being closely monitored. No casualties were reported among the passengers aboard the train.
An official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. Officials are examining whether negligence, human error, or a failure to comply with safety procedures at the railway crossing contributed to the collision.
The incident has once again raised concerns over safety measures at railway crossings in different parts of the country. (ILKHA)
