Trump claims settlement reached to end Iran war, Tehran yet to confirm
U.S. President Donald Trump said an agreement under negotiation between the United States and Iran could be completed within the next few days, adding that preparations for a formal signing ceremony were already being discussed.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said work on the final version of the documents was nearing completion.
According to Trump, “the finalization process of the documents” was underway and could be completed within days, after which a signing ceremony might take place, possibly in Europe.
Trump also said he had been in contact with several leaders as part of the diplomatic efforts surrounding the negotiations, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
When asked whether Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had approved the agreement, Trump said, “As far as I understand, the answer is yes.”
The U.S. president further stated that the agreement would lead to the normalization of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of restrictions imposed on Iran at sea.
Trump added that the deal could be signed before the end of the weekend if the remaining procedures were completed as expected.
No official announcement has yet been made by Iranian authorities regarding the final approval of the proposed agreement. However, the negotiations are being closely watched due to their potential impact on regional stability, maritime security and global energy markets.(ILKHA)
