British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has approved the continued use of UK military bases by US forces for operations targeting Iran, according to British media, amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Under the arrangement, US aircraft will continue to have access to RAF Fairford in England and Diego Garcia, the UK-administered military base in the Indian Ocean, for missions linked to operations against Iran.

The facilities have reportedly supported strikes targeting Iran's missile capabilities as well as military activities in and around the Strait of Hormuz.

Media reports said the policy had been reviewed under former Prime Minister Keir Starmer and was presented to Burnham after he took office, with the new prime minister deciding to keep it in place.

The move comes as the United States continues military operations against Iran, reportedly targeting military and logistical infrastructure, aircraft shelters and drone storage facilities.

Burnham's decision follows remarks by US President Donald Trump suggesting that civilian infrastructure, including bridges and energy facilities, could also be targeted in Iran.
